If It's from Hilary Swank, then it must be good. Well! I think this is one of her best. It may not be for Oscars but this movie moved me. Especially if you've already lost a special someone not only a husband but it can be a friend or family. So, bring out the kleenex =)

I do love the story especially on how she got on her feet and how genius the plot is. On how they show the past and present. But the transformation on how he died is quite abrupt. They could have shown a little bit on this first before they go on a funeral immediately.

Anyway, a chick flick movie but surely an amazing acting from all the cast. Love the story, accdg to rocket girl here's the plot.

On a country road in Ireland over ten years ago, it was love at first sight for Holly, a lost young tourist (Academy Award® winner, Hilary Swank), and Gerry, a charming local lad (Gerard Butler). Hollys formidable mother, (Kathy Bates), disapproved of the couple, concerned that her spirited daughter was too young for marriage. In the years since, the once fearless Holly has become unsure of her own identity. When Gerry dies with a brain tumor and leaves Holly a widow just shy of her thirtieth birthday, her family and best friends (Lisa Kudrow, Gina Gershon) are concerned that she will never emerge from her takeout container-strewn Manhattan apartment. After weeks holed up watching old movies, a birthday cake and tape recording message from Gerry mysteriously arrives, marking the beginning of a series of letters instructing her to perform unusual requests. With the help of her girlfriends, Holly begins a year of wild adventures and a life journey that Gerry has planned for her, helping her to discover who she is without him and reminding her - p.s. I Love You.

I so enjoyed watching this one, I did laughed and cried but just because I wanted to. Hehehe! Sounded crazy? Yep! That's me this week =)

This is all about the best man (not the real best friend of the groom) fell in love with the Bride story.

Well! It's a slightly mushy film but I kind of stumbled on this film at TV1000 the other night and was able to record it and finally watched it last night =)

I do love the funny scheme that (green) pulled on the Groom. It was hilarious though it's a little bit over the top if it's in real life.

The confused bride Sarah (Amy Smart) is really beautiful in this film. I've watched some of her films before but in this one she is really elegant. And Olly (Stuart Townsend) is really cute but the acting isn't believable. I like him better as a vampire. Hehehe!

Well! I've enjoyed watching this especially the ending. But I would have wanted this film to narrate or show the letter that Olly wrote to Sarah just to see how good Olly is in writing =) wink

Wow! I'd give this movie a 5 star. Hmmm, not exactly what I've been expecting but since I super dooper missed the SATC series I thought this one is quite perfect.

I'd really love to elaborate on each casts but would concentrate on the lessons I've learned instead. Well! Probably because their characters are mostly the same. And the happenings in their life is still parallel to it. For Miranda and Steve finding their new kind of love; Charlotte and Harry having their own baby (Rose); Samantha being still single and fabulous at 50; and Carrie with BIG =)

Filial Love and Friendship really goes hand in hand with these girls.

Forgiveness and forgetting the past clearly makes more sense when you are with the right person.

Dreaming about finding the right man someday and just believing in LOVE still... no matter how much we have been hurt is very important to instill not only in our head but most especially in our heart.

Oh wow! Eventhough, I had one of the worst days for the last 24 hours watching this movie did lifted my spirit and raised my hopes and made me smile genuinely.

I really do want to cry and laugh at the same time but that would be too corny =) so, I'll just inhale and exhale the wonderful emotions that has been jogging in me and get a good night sleep at uh... 4AM??? Hehehe! Time really flies in this part of the world.

But one thing is for sure (wink)
You will indeed enjoy watching this movie with or without popcorn with you... especially if you're a certified fan of SATC =)

One of the mysteries of life is how our heart beats to the people we love even after losing our memory.... That's the soul of this movie...

I've been hooked to Korean Drama and movies for so long now and still gaping on the stories they create. I love how the actors and actresses give life to every line they deliver and the plot of the movies or series they create.

This particular movie is just one of the many tear jerking korean movies I've seen and not to mention the lesson they've imparted on the viewers, in this case to me =).. Hmm.. got to write more about the past movies I've seen so I won't forget too.

I've always been a fan of Son Ye-Jin, who looks like Zhang ZiYi, but with softer smile. I absolutely love her films, like how much I almost peed from laughters in 'Crazy first love'; and totally hooked in her beauty in 'The Classic' --HER BEST FILM FOR ME or how much I've appreciated love stories and friendship in 'Lover's Concerto'

Anyway, I would have love to elaborate more on this movie but I'm still awake at 3Am today because I can't seem to stop watching KDrama and I still have 3 writings that I should be doing for school tomorrow... Aisht.... Hehehe!

All I can say is that it made my day better eventhough I won't get any sleep after this because I've been gulping 3 cups of coffee since I started sitting infront of this monitor =)

I can say that I kind of have a memory gap problem too. My friends can testify that. I tend to forget where I've put some things or what am i going to do. And it made me crazy that after leaving the house, I have to go back because I forgot something... So, I kind of experience the same emotion here. The only sad part is that the reality on my part is I'm just not organize with my stuffs or it already became a habit not to mind where I put my things... Hehehe!

But you know what? Most romantic sad movies I've watched is that they do find their partner for real before they die and was able to live their life experiencing true love. Hmmm... It's an insane thought but I do hope it's also true in real life. I guess, I am willing to risk losing my life just to experience the real and lasting love that most people never had before they die.

Oh wow! I'm really hooked and fooled from watching these kind of movies eh? Hehehe! Well then I guess, I better go back to my desk and start working on those 3 essays that I've to finished for tomorrow... Urgh... Life and love is really much better in movies than in real life (sigh)

Hmm... Never thought I will love this movie after having watched it like 2 years ago but yesterday, it really touched my heart... sniff

Yup! I'm a sucker of romantic comedy stories may it be from film, books, mags or true stories from friends but was really quite surprise I found it so perfect.

Yeah yeah! I know there's no such thing as perfect but this movie is for me...

Love the combination of ashton and amada here. They're both awesome. I can probably relate too since I'm branded as crazy by my friends. In everything not only in love.

I mean, I'm not even close to feeling in love right now. In fact, I'm loveless but still I find this movie appealing and totally incredible.

Oh well! The sypnosis is...
While flying from LA to NY, the "good boy" Oliver Martin (Ashton Kutcher), who's meeting his brother, meets the "bad girl" Emily Friehl (Amanda Peet), who he saw just broke up with her boyfriend at the airport parking lot.
From the plane, Em made the move (wondering what it is?) Then, watch it...

Then, while lounging around town, they met again and had a wonderful fun all day...
3 years later, they met again... This time Em,
a struggling actress, after breaking up (again) with his boyfriend. It's a new year's eve for christ sake so... Fun fun fun...
Next day, Oliver have to leave to set up his business in NY...

2 years later, Oliver was the one who was broken hearted and thought of meeting Em, who just turned out to be a good photographer, fruit of Oliver's gift before he left.
Amanda was single but have met someone...

I think their dialogue was...
'Let it go... I'm with you'

Particularly common with ex lovers or friends who is consolling their friend in need...

Anyhow, this time they did exchanged numbers but... the long distance thing sucks!

A year after, Oliver finally went back home... Broke! Jobless! Clueless and No plans...

Unfortunately Em is engaged...

The ENd... Hehehe! Watched it again and you'll love it..

After 10 long years, the monumental epic of JKR is here. The final confrontation between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort.

The good over evil has materialized in this final book and it seems like yesterday since I started to venture into the magical world of Harry Potter.

After being taken by Anikan of Star Wars, Neo of Matrix, Frodo of the 3 part epic of Lord of the Rings, here comes the tear glistening ending of a genius creation of JK Rowling known as Harry Potter.

Anyway, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has some lumpy passages in it but there are also inevitable moments where in you'll see yourself loss in the pages which makes your heart race imagining you're with Ron, Hermione and Harry racing againts time with the Death eaters.

The fun of your own imagination really quirks in this last book though I can't seem to shake off the image of the famous Harry Potter when he came to Hogwarts and started polishing his magic, winning quidditch, knowing his friends as well as enemies, empowering the good over evil and fighting snakes, spiders and a lot of ikky creatures at a young age =)

But it's not just Harry that fascinates me but there's Hermione (coolest girl ever!), Ron, Hagrid, Neville, Luna, Ginny, Dumbledore, Snape, James and Lily, Kreacher, Fred and George, Fleur and Bill and a lot more characters that is truly deeply thought of by the author.

Oh well! The world of Harry Potter is a place where we, the muggles, can learn a lot of great and marvelous things. The existence of magic makes our own mortal world maybe ordinary to the wizards, goblins, witches, and other creatures in this story but it shows that peace, hope and love exists and that no matter how bumpy the road to eternity is, it's still your choice which one to follow:

your own good will for the greater good or fall to the dark side.

I won't be elaborating on the details since you can clearly read the detailed summary here:

Summary:
In 1692, in the Ipswich Colony of Massachusetts, five families of powerful witches commit to a covenant of silence to protect themselves against the witch hunters, but one of the families transgress their pact and is banished from their lands. Along the centuries, the power and the covenant are transmitted through their descendants and when the eldest son is eighteen years old, he ascends to a higher power. However, the use of magic addicts and if used in excess, ages the warlock. In the present days, four wizards teenage friends are in high school and their leader Caleb Danvers is close to his eighteenth birthday and consequently to ascend. He has just met Sarah Wenham and they are dating, when the appearance of darkling and supernatural dreams haunt the group. Sooner they find an evil warlock, descendant of the fifth ancient family that wants to strip Caleb's power.

What I think?
Well! It's not so bad at all but not what I was expecting. The actors are cute though and laura ramsey looks great in this movie too eventhough it's supposed to scare you and not amuse you with the teeny weeny stuffs.

Hmmm... but I think I'd rather catch the fantastic four 2 or harry potter than this one

Totally awesome...
The last few days was a movie marathon for me and I kind of fell in love with Will Smith in this one.
This movie is one of his best movies because I was so touch with his determination. His character will lure you around suffering but will somehow let you feel how much you'll wanted to succeed in your own.
The desperation and struggle of Chris Garner truly is amazing. His intelligence and perseverance to struggle against his desperation really is a miracle for me.
Though, I'm just wondering why doesn't he have friends or family. How sad it is that he did it really with no one but his son in his side.
His love for his son that no matter what happen he'll do everything just to be with him.
This movie made me cry and in a way made me looked at my own life.
It's one of the encouraging movies that can be a wake up call for some of us who are in times of trouble and really ready to give up hope.
But most of all, it made me think of my own father.

This review is composed of three laguages... I'm not a linguist but this movie did made a point about some important things in our planet. So, the more people who can read in their own language, the better =)

Since Ingrid shared the DVD to me, I thought I'd share it with my friends too. So we watched it together one boring Oslo saturday... well, that is after coming home from dancing...

But before that, I'd like to thank Ingrid for sharing her DVD on TOUR. And for being so patient with me... Have fun for the next viewer from Italy. And so my review goes like this...

In English:

What is so impressive about this movie?

First, the message that they wanted to impart...and the plot...
Poverty is everywhere and with the intelligence and guts of the girl, she was able to accomplished what others can't.

Second, the excellent acting of the casts...and how they deliver their dialogues...
I truly love the way they make you long for the next scene... though most of my friends said it's dragging... But then again, it's unique in their own way...which gives you the rush and anticipation for what's going to happen next.

Third, the meaning of the movie for me...
Well! The fact that this movie is travelling all through out the world, I think it's just fair to know more deeply about what's happening around us. Bill Knighy is really something but it's what he carries with him that really rocks.

There are more but these are the things that my friends and I discussed after watching it.

An HBO Films/BBC co-production, The Girl in the Cafè is both a romantic character drama with comedic elements, and a powerful political wake-up call by Richard Curtis, the acclaimed writer of Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Love Actually. Curtis' first film since Love Actually, The Girl in the Cafè literally addresses one the most important questions of 2005: Will this be the year when world powers seriously address the issue of world poverty once and for all? The film is a passionate plea to humankind - wrapped in a love story, a comedy and a unique drama. It is a call to arms that shamelessly sets out to entertain, inform and challenge audiences to act. Above all, the film seeks to raise awareness about the important political choices facing the G8 leaders at the next Summit, in Scotland in 2005, and for all of our actions to match our principles.

Set and filmed in London and Iceland (where the fictional G8 Summit of the film takes place), The Girl in the Cafè follows the journey of Lawrence, a lonely bureaucrat working for the UK's Chancellor of the Exchequer, after he meets an enigmatic woman named Gina in a cafè. After a couple of dates, he takes a chance and invites her on a weekend trip to Reykjavik, where he'll be working the G8 conference. His team's hope is to push an agenda the Millennium Goals agreed to at the 2000 G8, which if met will greatly decrease world poverty by 2015. This conference is especially crucial, as little has been pledged so far, but compromise is almost always a given.

As she learns more, Gina (to Lawrence's initial horror) becomes increasingly outspoken at the conference, challenging his boss, representatives of other nations, and even the English Prime Minister to do more to end poverty and save dying mothers and children. For his part, Lawrence begins to wonder who Gina really is, even as their physical connection intensifies. Lawrence's bosses warn him that Gina may cost him his job - the one thing he ever cared about until Gina. While the romance reaches a bittersweet place, Gina's courage ends up changing Lawrence's staid life - and perhaps even influences the politicians who wield the power to save millions of lives.

The two leads of The Girl in the Cafè are Bill Nighy, who turned in a memorable portrayal of the aging rocker in Curtis' Love Actually (he won multiple awards for the role, including BAFTA and LA Film Critics Association honors), and who will appear in the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and Kelly Macdonald, whose credits include Finding Neverland (as Peter Pan), Gosford Park, Elizabeth and Trainspotting. The Girl in the Cafè was directed by David Yates, who won numerous awards for directing the UK miniseries "State of Play." Yates is slated to direct the next "Harry Potter" movie, as well as the film version of "Brideshead Revisited."

Adultery!
Infidelity!

This movie touched the reasons of why marriage should be taken cared by two people and that the husband and wife should realise that having a family isn't just the two of them but there's the children also.

Didn't have the chance to catch the first 20 minutes of the movie but it gives you the urge to finished it till the end.

This is a story about 2 couples who are friends that are unhappy with their relationships and tend to asked each other's help the wrong way...

It's in a way illicit and sinly made but it will give you the feeling of hair raising from the back of your head and will make you feel paranoid about your own relationship.. well, if you are involved or married that is.

I actually check it out just for the heck of watching Naomi Watts (one of my fave actress nowadays) and she's really good. I agree with her decision in the end too... I'd probably do it also if I'm in her place =) as if?

Hmm... I actually read this first before 'He Loves Lucy' but since I loved it so much I didn't waste an hour before I picked out another one of hers...so?

It's fabulous... It thrills me to the bones =)
Her novels were not the 'hit me and you'll see thingy' but the 'reality in our dreams kind of stories'

Well! Since the Author is really a quack by nature, let's say funny, cheery and have a way with words that would make me grin all the way from the train station to our apartment...

And believe it or not, I can still laugh remembering how I stumbled coz of reading while walking because I slipped from the icy road down down the hill... remember, I live in a mountain. Haha! Yeah, it's pretty embarassing and funny but it damned hurt my butt... Thank god it's still firm.. Oh ha! Hehe!

Anyhow, this funky novel is about a divorcee mom of 3 (or was it 4? damned my memory is cheating on me again).

Well, after being lonesome, broke coz of the stupid ex-hub and luckily have some girlfriends (you'll have to see one of them as the heroine here showing her the way to her loveone), made her agreed to a fiasco of being the (show off girlfriend) err 'the kept woman' (turned fiancee) of the huggabee-dude soon to be the hubby who wanted to be a Senator! (see how dirty politics is?) Hmp!

Anyway, usual story of chemistry between two good looking people... sex starved? Nope but good at it... same with the author's description... Hehehe! Sizzling it is... but with emotion.

Hell! I've to stop typing now... just go get the book if you wanted some love sisters!

Anyway, 372 pages is worth your time and money... hehehe! I've to get some commission from doing this, shouldn't I?

Tada! Got to catch some reading fiction this time...

Since I picked this one from the shelves, I didn't even want to try to blink away from it.

Yup! That's how funny and crazy this novel is...

I'm amaze how the author influenced the my health habits too =)

This book reminds me of the movie 'Love on a Diet', which I believe I also made a review from it...

Anyway, the summary goes like this...
Girl, a fat but cutey lady who wants to put up her own business, signed in to lose 100 pounds in a year in exchange of 1000 dollars per pound so that makes it 5 zeros of hell of a money =). The trainer, a hottie who dreams to be a doctor, gets the same amount.
Well, with the motivation being said... the challenge starts! The setback? The boss of the lady is kind of a loser and sort of a jackass so, he made some pathetic ways for Lucy not to achieve her goal, which is to be sexy!

Well, knowing American Authors... It did stole my heart for 72 hours there after flipping 382 pages of the cute cover of this book.

Quotes i like: 'Let me win.But if I can't, let me be brave in the attempt.'

Reminds me of my plant design way back. Patience and Courage is hard to acquire but it's worth it at the end of a challenge.

Lesson learned: Ban milk duds =) live healthy and love your life =) for noone would if you won't start within yourself.

Sample of the book:
Chapter 1
Lucy Cunningham’s control tops were so tight that her inner thighs hissed like a swarm of cicadas with each step. The rhythm of nylon-on-nylon provided the soundtrack to what was becoming a long and humiliating stroll through The Palm Club’s cardio studio, where she was scheduled to meet the man that fate – and her psycho boss – had selected to change her life.

Yes, people were staring. But that was because Lucy was wearing a business suit in a sea of Spandex. That, and she was the only chubby chick in room full of skinny people, which was always funtastic.

Lucy adjusted her laptop strap and pasted on a smile. So where was this guy? It was horrifying enough that she’d agreed to a public makeover as part of one of her own marketing campaigns, but now she had to go peeking behind treadmills in a game of find the uber-trainer? According to the receptionist, he was a hard-to-miss man with short light brown hair, blue eyes and a little gold hoop in his left ear. Yet so far, she’d managed to miss him and his hoop just fine.

Lucy felt ridiculous. Then she felt around inside her jacket pocket for the comfort of her edible worry beads, and popped two Milk Duds into her mouth. It hadn’t escaped her that the beloved Duds would have to go if she were going to lose a hundred pounds in a year. But for that blissful instant, perhaps the last she’d ever know, Lucy closed her eyes and felt the chocolate melt on her tongue until it was yielding and warm, just the right consistency to swirl around under her soft palate to position for the gratifying pay off – the lethal slam of her bite.

Ah, Milk Duds. The official candy of pissed-off, fat women everywhere.

Lucy chewed, now much happier, and allowed her eyes to scan the rows of gleaming steel fitness machines lined up on the acres of plush charcoal carpeting. She glanced down at the Post-It note in her damp palm. It said, Theo Redmond. Her boss had referred to him as “personal trainer to the beautiful people of Miami Beach,” which made Lucy smile, seeing that he was about to become personal trainer to Lucy Cunningham, originally of Pittsburgh.

As she rounded the corner and entered a wide, sunlit area full of high-tech machines, it occurred to her that she might not have thought this through sufficiently. After all, who in their right mind decides to turn over a new leaf during the holidays? Talk about masochistic.

And she hadn’t even considered how she’d introduce herself to this trainer, once she located him. She always preferred the blunt approach, but wondered how he’d handle her saying something like, Howdy! I’m the out-of-shape babe you ordered!

“Lucy Cunningham?”

Her head swiveled toward the deep voice. She stopped in her tracks as the bronzed God of Fitness arose from his knees. He’d been helping a vaguely familiar-looking woman with a machine that flapped her arms up and down like chicken wings, and the woman now seemed forlorn that he was leaving her side. The man began to walk toward Lucy, smiling.

Her stomach clenched with that near-sick anxiety she felt in the company of jocks, even though it had now been a whole decade since the Taco Bowl incident and there wasn’t an ESPN reporter in sight.

She reminded herself to breathe. She reviewed to herself the truths one by one – the guy moving her way had nice eyes; he had a genuine smile; the guy looked like a life-sized Ken doll, only hotter.

His big hand swallowed hers. His skin felt warm and a bit calloused. He squeezed her chubby little fingers. And Lucy knew she was staring, but the sheer physical beauty of this man had apparently left her mute and brain-dead.

He smiled at her and inclined his head to look her in the eye. “I’m Theo. I’m running a little late, so would you mind having a seat in the conference room?” He gestured toward an area walled off in smoky glass. “I’ll only be a few minutes.”

Lucy nodded. She looked f....

Hmm... For a long time, I've never read such romantic comedies that makes me laugh till i cry... Funny, tender, hip and amazingly sexy.

Yup! I'm definitely adding Crusie as one of my all time favorite authors.

It's about a lonely divorcee who is trying to pick up the pieces of her life and living alone just the way she wanted made her think of having a dog on her own... She found a part basset, part beagle, part manic-depressive, part lead ass dog... haha! just look at the pic and you'll figure out why.

Through Fred, name of the cute dog, she met her man, a doctor/neighbor. A younger man that sizzles her appetite though she tried fighting the urge to grab him everytime he's near. Then, you read the rest... hehe!

Well! I just think that reading this book while riding the subway makes my early day more cheerful despite the freezing weather and at the same time it's one of my crazy ways of being sane but still manage to learn new things...

Sam's Letters to Jennifer is a novel about family relationships, love, friendship and life all rolled into one. It was a two lovestory in one book magically combined by the author. The setting of the story was in a small town where she grew up and mostly spent her precious summers with her grandma. She was summon to go back into this town because of her very bestfriend that lead her into finding her second chance at love. Love is the most beautiful thing in this world and we shouldn't lose hope of finding it. That's basically the summary of the story.

I enjoyed reading this book totally that it makes me wonder about my relationship to my family and my past loves and of course my future (who will it be?)

The letters that Sam wrote to Jennifer are very powerful and full of energy. It was the confession of a saint or a sinner as we all call a person with mystery.

I totally adored the way the author gives inspiration to readers as well as hope after the pains of failed relationships... and of course light to your life after having connected your own to the characters in this book...

Fabulous reading material that makes you want to be in love in every way that you can. No matter what age you are in or what kind of job you are into... It's a matter of knowing yourself and wanting to know the other half of your life... try it! =)

Outrageous plot and a literary piece of lust and freaky story of a sad misjudge girl. A feminist character with a macho image of a young stud. I've never been entranced by a film with such intensity.

I can compare this film with the PIANO. But I like the way it captures the audience curiosity on what's going to happen in the end. The only flaw that I saw here is that the moral lesson seem so blurred and unruly. Can't distinguished the voice of humanity in this film...

This film is perfect for a bored rainy day at home... don't watch this when you're trying to sleep... Hehehe! It's not good for your health... (wink)

This book is about busy people who have high-powered job and finally got stressed out from work with a twist of course! Well! That was me... To proved it, I actually am an undomesticated Goddess in disguise... Hehehe! I really had fun reading this. I hardly put it down and finished the book in 2 nights. Duh! That's like 2 hours before I went to bed. The thing is everytime I start reading it, I'm completely lost to Samantha's world. Never mind the late night and early morning responsibilities I had... haha!

I'm going back to the library tomorrow to check out her previous books... Well! That's it for this week... Try to update my reading... I'm currently reading something good too... Ugh! Wish I had more time...

Philippine Movie Producers rarely adapt rather is not into adapting Filipino novels or classics into movies like Florante at Laura and some love stories loved by literature teachers of our country. That’s why I’m so awed and really inflamed by the passion of Hollywood as well as the British Film Industry in adapting their own like Shakespeare, Mark Twain and of course Jane Austen.

Too bad, Filipinos are really suckers for a hopeless romantic movies so the movie goers just have to be contented with the stories like “let the love begin” or the unbending movies of judy ann and piolo like “don’t give up on us” which is a nice movie actually. Yeah! I have to watch it since I’m obliged and suprisingly like it in a lighthearted way.

Anyway, back to Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”, this film once again captivated my heart even after having read the book itself. I can say that the movie was delivered properly and even though the book is much more complete, it wasn’t rushed and still caught the heart and theme of the story.

Here’s the recap of the story…

Pride & Prejudice tells of the romance between the smart, sassy Elizabeth Bennet (Kiera Knightley) and the handsome, reticent Mr. Darcy (Matthew MacFadyen). At their initial meeting, they leave mutually unfavorable impressions but, as events continually bring them together, their opinions change. Darcy falls first, then hamstrings himself with an insulting marriage proposal. But, as he makes amends, Elizabeth finds herself falling for him.

The book contains numerous sublplots, all of which have either been truncated or eliminated for this version. The relationship between Mr. Bingley (Simon Woods) and Jane Bennet (Rosamund Pike) remains, but in a condensed form, and only because it is necessary to the fabric of the central love story. Also suffering greatly is the character of Wickham (Rupert Friend), who appears in only two scenes. (I never liked him or that aspect of the novel, anyway.) The impact of Wickham's character (running off with Lydia Bennet, then marrying her after Darcy buys him off) is more important than his presence. Most of the rest of Pride & Prejudice is left intact, and much of Austen's dialogue is retained. Wright and Moggach add an epilogue that may annoy Austen purists - it's not from the book, but it's in keeping with Austen's style and represents a good way to conclude the film. (Although I daresay no one would take such liberties with one of Shakepeare's plays.)

Kiera Knightley makes a dazzling Lizzie, on par with Jennifer Ehle's interpretation. Knightley is at times playful, at times tempestuous, and at times vulnerable. And she speaks every line of dialogue with conviction. Her co-star, Matthew MacFayden, doesn't shine as brightly, but he handles the role and exhibits chemistry with Knightley. Of the supporting players, Brenda Blethyn and Donald Sutherland as Mrs. and Mr. Bennet deserve notice, as does Jena Malone as Lydia. Judi Dench has a small part as Lady Catherine De Bourgh, but she only makes a couple of appearances. The only acting disappointments are Simon Woods and Rupert Friend, but since neither is on screen long enough to cause serious damage, they're easy to ignore. (Friend, in particular, appears to have been chosen more for his looks than his acting ability.)

We're past the era of Jane Austen that gripped movie theaters during the mid-1990s, but this production is as worthy as anything to have come out a decade ago. Period detail is impeccable, so the movie looks as good as it feels. Of Austen's novels, none is more beloved than this one, so it's good to see it once again brought to the screen with the pride which it deserves.

Since Valentine's Day is fast approaching, hopefully you will be able to catch this one and feel the love of Mr Darcy and Lizzy's untamed love for each other... It's a must that you watch this movie okidok! Besides, Keira Knightly is nominated as Best Actress at the Oscars, so.....
